Supporting local organisations, charities and community groups, including Billy’s Lifeline.

❤️ Strengthening Community Organisations Through Life-Saving Skills

Strong communities rely on strong organisations.

Whether it’s a charity supporting vulnerable people, a community group running local activities or a voluntary organisation providing essential services, having trained first aiders helps create safer environments for everyone.

Through our partnership with the South Tyneside Pledge, First Aid Saves Lives CIC was proud to deliver the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) to representatives from local organisations, including Billy’s Lifeline.

By providing accredited workplace first aid training, we weren’t simply helping individuals gain a qualification—we were helping local organisations increase their capacity, improve safety and continue supporting the communities they serve.

Supporting Those Who Support Others

Many charities and voluntary organisations work with people every day.

Their staff and volunteers often support children, families, vulnerable adults and members of the public.

Having trained first aiders isn’t simply a legal consideration.

It’s an investment in the wellbeing of everyone who uses those services.

Through the South Tyneside Pledge, organisations were able to access accredited first aid training that equips their teams with the confidence to respond effectively during an emergency.

That confidence extends beyond the workplace and into the wider community.

Developing Practical Workplace First Aid Skills

The Emergency First Aid at Work course is designed to prepare learners for real-life situations.

Throughout the day, participants developed both the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a range of common workplace emergencies.

The course included:

✅ Understanding the role of a workplace first aider

✅ Assessing emergency situations safely

✅ Managing an unresponsive casualty

✅ Adult CPR

✅ Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

✅ Choking

✅ Severe bleeding

✅ Shock

✅ Minor injuries

Using realistic scenarios and practical exercises, learners were able to build confidence while practising techniques they may one day need to use for real.

Learning That Builds Confidence

One of the strengths of accredited first aid training is that every learner has the opportunity to develop practical experience rather than simply learning theory.

Throughout the course, participants practised essential skills using professional training equipment while receiving guidance and feedback from experienced instructors.

Questions were encouraged.

Discussions were welcomed.

Scenarios reflected situations learners could realistically encounter within their own organisations.

This approach helps ensure learners leave not only with a recognised qualification but with genuine confidence in their ability to respond during an emergency.

Supporting the Voluntary Sector

Community organisations do incredible work every day.

Many operate with limited resources while supporting some of the most vulnerable people within our communities.

Providing access to accredited first aid training helps strengthen those organisations by giving staff and volunteers practical skills that benefit everyone they support.

We’re proud to play a small part in helping local organisations continue making a positive difference across South Tyneside.

Working Together Through the South Tyneside Pledge

Partnership working lies at the heart of everything we do.

The South Tyneside Pledge brings together organisations that are committed to supporting local people and creating stronger communities.

By working collaboratively, we’re able to increase access to high-quality first aid training and ensure more community organisations have qualified first aiders ready to respond if an emergency occurs.

Together, we’re helping make South Tyneside a safer place to live, work and volunteer.

Thank You To South Tyneside Pledge

We’d like to thank the South Tyneside Pledge for supporting this initiative and every organisation that took part in the training, including Billy’s Lifeline.

Your commitment to investing in your staff and volunteers demonstrates the value you place on the safety and wellbeing of the people you support every day.

It was a privilege to work alongside such passionate organisations.
